Ordering Parmesan at a restaurant is usually a straightforward experience. A server may bring the cheese over in a small dish or grate it at the table, pouring a generous portion over the meal of the diner who requested it.
Since most restaurants have a predictable routine for doling out the cheese, one woman did not expect what happen when her friend asked for Parmesan at an Italian restaurant in Chicago.
On March 19, TikTok user @madelinesmall16 posted a video that showed a server grating Parmesan directly into her friend's mouth. The clip has since received 6.2 million views and more than 800,000 likes on the social media platform.
Viewers watched as a server offered the TikToker and her friend, who goes by @lil_parmesan_ on the platform, more cheese. The poster's friend, who already had a cheese-coated plate, gestured to the server to grate more Parmesan into her bare hands.
According to the video, on the server's third visit to the friends' table, the woman tilted her head back and opened her mouth while he grated an extra sprinkling of Parmesan directly onto her taste buds. Later in the video, the woman turned to customers seated near her and offered them some of her surplus cheese.
"Do you guys wanna have some?" she said.
In the video's caption, the poster wrote, "Her nickname isnt lil parm for no reason!!"
She said in the post's comments section that the incident took place at Nonnina, and that the pair's generous server was named Rodrigo. She added that it was "safe to say the service was above and beyond." Newsweek has contacted @madelinesmall16 via TikTok for more information.
