Flight Attendant's Surprise for Mom's 10th Wedding Anniversary Melts Hearts

A video of a mother "beaming" with laughter following a surprise from her flight attendant daughter on a plane has gone viral on TikTok.

The video was shared by TikTok user @cmcsmitham and has over 156,000 views since it was posted last week. A message overlaid on the video reads: "Surprising my mother for her 10th wedding anniversary."

The daughter works for British Airways, according to a comment in the post. In the video, the daughter is seen bringing a drink on a tray to her mother who is removing her glasses while sitting in her seat. Spotting her daughter, the mom appears surprised, giggling, as the flight attendant stands next to her with the tray.

Another note across the clip reads: "She's never seen me work before." The mom gives her daughter a hug before the drink is later placed on her table.

The mom is later pictured in a selfie with her daughter as well as her husband, as the couple stands near some seats on the plane, posing with drinks in their hands. A caption shared with the post simply reads: "I love my job #surprise #cabincrew #flightattendant #10yearanniversary."

Newsweek has contacted @cmcsmitham for comment via TikTok. This video has not been independently verified.

The latest post comes as the flight attendant profession was ranked 48th in the latest edition of the annual "100 Best Jobs" ranking by U.S. News and World Report. The job ranked third among the highest paying jobs without a degree, with a median annual wage of $63,760 reported in May 2022, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).

The profession also ranked fifth among both the best civil service jobs and best jobs without a college degree.

The employment of flight attendants is forecast to grow 11 percent from 2022 to 2032, "much faster than the average for all occupations," according to the BLS.

"About 16,600 openings for flight attendants are projected each year, on average, over the decade. Many of those openings are expected to result from the need to replace workers who transfer to different occupations or exit the labor force, such as to retire," the BLS said.

'She's Still Beaming'

TikTok users adored the moment captured in the heartwarming clip.

Edward wrote, "Must have been the best flights of her life," with @cmcsmitham replying, "She's still beaming about it."

Sharon simply commented, "how lovely," while flylieflat noted that it was "such a nice gesture."

BRITGUY1 posted: "A lovely surprise; yet another reason I love BA now. Great how you did it by enjoying the moment but maintaining your professionalism..."
