Moment Dog Finally Gets "Closure" After Reunion With Ball Missing for Years

A dog who searched for her missing toy for two years has finally been reunited with it against all odds, and a video of the occasion has gone viral.

Doberman pinscher Ahsoka lives with her family in North America, and lost her toy to their swimming pool more than two years ago.

Ever since, Ahsoka has watched and waited at the corner of the pool where she knows she lost it, every time the pool cover comes off.

A publication in American Kennel Club (AKC) states it's still up for debate whether dogs have "episodic memory," or "the ability to recall personal events and specific moments."

But in the case of Doberman Ahsoka, she never forgot losing her ball in that one specific place, even as the years went by.

Her owner shared Ahsoka's story on TikTok on April 15 through her account @chewiepupssommers, and so far it has been viewed close to 700,000 times.

In the clip, her owner explains: "Two years ago even though we removed all of her toys we couldn't get one. We thought she wouldn't notice or remember but every time the pool cover opens she runs to the corner and stares."

After two years of "driving me crazy," the family took drastic measures to reunite Ahsoka with her dog toy, removing a tile and using a tool to rescue the "dirty three-year-old ball."

While it may just be a dirty ball to them, Ahsoka was clearly over the moon, instantly grabbing her old toy. And, her owner revealed, she "no longer stares at the pool corner."

The video shows the moment the ball is dug out from under the tiles as the Doberman watches carefully. And after a couple of sniffs to confirm it really is her ball, she picks it up and prances away.

Ahsoka's story had a huge reaction on TikTok, with pet owners sharing their own similar experiences in the comments section.

"My dog found chicken bones in a bush ONE TIME three years ago and checks that bush every time we walk by. Just in case," one person wrote.

Another shared that they had once dropped a marshmallow on the concrete a whopping seven years ago, and "we now have a puppy that wasn't even there that licks the same spot because he saw his brother licking it."

And it's not just dogs, as one user pointed out "kids do it too."

"My son found a buried dinosaur toy at the park one day and now almost every day asks to go get more dinosaurs," she wrote.
