Laughter as Dog 'Confused' Over Why Photo of Dad Won't Acknowledge Him

Viewers on social media couldn't stop laughing at a dog seeking attention from his owner who appeared to be sitting on the couch, but wasn't accepting the dog's demands.

In a TikTok video posted on March 19 by @house.of.paws.pa, the chocolate Labrador pup can be seen standing on the couch inching closer to what he thought was his owner. Unbeknown to him, the dog was only sniffing a life-like photo of his owner printed on a blanket.

The dog recognized it was his owner, but the fact he received no pets or love completely threw him off. However, the confused canine didn't give up, but unfortunately, no amount of sniffing would make his owner give in to his demands, quickly leaving the dog concerned.

The video's text overlay reads: "When you're confused because Dad won't move or acknowledge you."

The dog carefully touched the blanket with his nose to confirm his sense of smell wasn't failing him, but even that didn't make his owner move. Stumped, he looked back at the person filming in hopes they would offer an explanation.

Do Dogs Recognize Owners?

Dogs typically associate everything with their incredible sense of smell, but believe it or not, dogs can also recognize owners through photos, according to the website Wag! Canines typically look longer and more intently at images of people they know versus the time they spend on a stranger's photo.

Signs that a dog recognizes their owner through photos include: head tilts, pushing the picture with their noses, or using their eyes to track an image. Dogs will also stare, sniff, whimper, or wag their tails when they spot a person they know in a photo, Wag! states on its website.
