Dog Caught Spying on Owner After They Make Promise: 'The Judging Eyes'

A dog has won thousands of hearts online after a video that captured him waiting to go to the beach with his owner went viral on TikTok.

The viral clip, which has been viewed more than 118,000 times since it was first shared to TikTok on November 20, shows the dog sitting near to his owner after being promised a trip to the beach. The post has been captioned: "Don't mind me Mahm, enjoy your sleep."

Viewers were shown Joey the golden retriever puppy from Melbourne, Australia, waiting patiently in the corner of his owner's bedroom in the early hours of the Saturday, all ready to head to a beach, while his human slept in. "When it's 7AM Saturday and I told I told Joey we'll go to the beach if he lets me sleep for another half an hour," the dog's owner shared in the post.

Golden retrievers are known for their love of long runs along beaches where they can dip into the sea and retrieve objects such as sticks and shells.

"Goldens are outgoing, trustworthy, and eager-to-please family dogs, and relatively easy to train. They take a joyous and playful approach to life and maintain this puppyish behavior into adulthood," the American Kennel Club says on its website.

"These energetic, powerful gundogs enjoy outdoor play. For a breed built to retrieve waterfowl for hours on end, swimming and fetching are natural pastimes," the pet registration group adds.

Since it was shared to the social media platform on November 20 by @joey_how_u_doin, the TikTok post has been liked by over 11,600 users and commented on more than 70 times. TikTok users have taken to the post's comments section to voice their amusement at the viral clip.

"The judging eyes," one user wrote, while another added: "That beautiful side eye."

"Waiting so patiently," a third user shared.

A different TikTok user commented: "He's so understanding. please take to the beach."

"He's not impressed," another posted.

Joey's owner updated TikTok users that they did in fact make it to the beach after the pair had enjoyed their weekend snooze.
