A cat and his puppy named Gregg and Boris have melted hearts online after a video of the two of them cuddling went viral on social media.
In footage shared on TikTok by the pet's owner, under the username Borisxgregg, the grey cat can be seen kneading the golden retriever puppy, which, according to the Blue Cross animal charity, is a big sign of affection.
While, in movies and cartoons, cats and dogs are usually portrayed as enemies, in real life they can be really good friends.
A study by Italian scientists, published in Plos One journal, found that 64 percent of the dogs and cats analyzed by the study play together at least sometimes, and about a third of both cats and dogs engaged in nose-to-nose greetings.
The survey found that 58 percent of the cats and dogs slept next to each other at least sometimes, and in 11 percent of cases, they always slept side by side, their owners said.
According to the study, cats are more likely to ignore dogs than vice versa, and they are also more likely than dogs to ignore their owners. Eighty-five percent of the surveyed dogs have a friendly relationship with their owner, where it is only 49 percent for cats.
About 70 percent of U.S. households, 90.5 million homes, own a pet as of 2022, with 69 million U.S. households having a dog, and 45.3 million owning a cat.

The post, which was first shared on the platform on Saturday, has so far received more than 1.6 million views and 362,400 likes.
One TikToker Christopher Choi commented: "I would never leave my house if I had these 2," while Gossip. Tunnel wrote: "when you have a problem with your back, call the chiropractic cat!"
Another TikTok user Waffles and Maple wrote: "Oh my gosh. this is so precious," and Gezuz Ramon commented: "Super cute."
TikToker Vexed Matron posted: "Giving the puppy a massage."
"My cat did that on my back once. It was heaven. She never ever did it again," wrote Wakk_Zylde, while Haley added: "this is the cutest thing I've ever seen."
Another TikTok user minsooesq wrote: "Aww they love each other." And Jason Wagner4020 added: "dogs are soooo patient, friends til the end."
Miguel LionBlazer502 commented: "Cat: hey wake up I'm bored hey come on bro wake up it's not working"
