Dinesh D'Souza Wants Obama to House Migrants in His Martha's Vineyard Home

Conservative political commentator and filmmaker Dinesh D'Souza said on Friday that he thinks former President Barack Obama should house migrants, who have been flown north from Florida, at his Martha's Vineyard home.

"Since Obama has long insisted that 'we are our brother's keeper,' I'm waiting for him to invite a bunch of illegal migrants to move into his very nice pad at Martha's Vineyard. He has the room, and [Florida] Governor [Ron] DeSantis has very kindly covered the transportation cost to get them there," D'Souza posted on Truth Social, Donald Trump's social media platform

D'Souza's post was an apparent reference to Obama's My Brother's Keeper initiative, which was launched to provide learning opportunities for young men and boys of color.

The right-wing filmmaker's remarks come after DeSantis facilitated the transportation of migrants, as part of a $12 million effort to transport migrants from Florida to other states. Around 50 men, women, and children—most originally from Venezuela— arrived in Martha's Vineyard on two planes on Wednesday.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott made a similar decision regarding migrants this week, announcing on Thursday that Texas sent two buses with between 75 to 100 migrants to Vice President Kamala Harris' house at the Naval Observatory in Washington D.C. A report from Fox News revealed that the migrants were originally from Uruguay, Colombia, Venezuela, and Mexico.

Both Republican governors are protesting the Biden administration's immigration policies and the way that border security is handled by sending migrants to Democratic cities, such as Chicago, New York City, and Washington D.C. Additionally, Arizona Republican Governor Doug Ducey also has sent 43 buses with migrants to Washington D.C. since May.

"This morning, two Texas buses of migrants arrived at the Naval Observatory in DC. VP Harris claims our border is 'secure' & denies the crisis. We're sending migrants to her backyard to call on the Biden Administration to do its job & secure the border," Abbott tweeted on Thursday.

The move has been criticized by some lawmakers and White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre called Abbott and DeSantis "shameful, reckless, and just plain wrong."

"The migrants, including children, who arrived in Martha's Vineyard, were misled about where they were being taken and what would be provided when they arrived is also deeply alarming," Jean-Pierre said.

Dylan Fernandes, a Massachusetts state representative who represents Martha's Vineyard, tweeted "Republicans who call themselves Christians have been plotting for some time to use human lives - men, women, and children - as political pawns."

A government report obtained by CNN revealed that Texas has spent more than $12 million to transport migrants throughout the country. Since April, Texas has already sent out dozens of buses with migrants in an effort to prove that the Biden administration is mishandling the southern border.

"Sanctuary city mayors complain they are overwhelmed by a few dozen migrants arriving on buses from Texas. It's a fraction of what Texas faces on a daily basis. We will continue busing migrants until Biden secures the border," Abbott tweeted on Wednesday.
