Watch 'Cranky' Golden Retriever's Relatable Response to His Owner's Alarm

The sound of the alarm clock going off in the morning is something that most people dread, and as it turns out, dogs are no different. A golden retriever has delighted the internet after his relatable reaction to the awful alarm was caught on camera.

When Sophie Bahmani brought Bodie home 18 months ago, it didn't take long for her to realize that he's certainly not a morning dog. From the outset, she saw how agitated he became as soon as he heard an alarm, so she recently decided to put that to the test and see what he would do if she didn't stop it and simply let it carry on.

She quickly had her answer to that because Bodie pounced onto the phone in his own attempt to stop the dreadful alarm from sounding. He reacts this way when it goes off at any time of day, but Bahmani, from Fort Worth, Texas, told Newsweek that he gets "most cranky in the mornings." Who could blame him—he needs his beauty sleep after all.

"We noticed when our alarms go off, Bodie just seems to be irritated so we thought why not film it and see what he does if we don't turn it off," Bahmani said. "We think it's so funny. My fiancé and I both hate waking up really early, so it feels like he has inherited this from his parents."

Younger dogs usually need plenty of sleep while they're still learning and developing, as the American Kennel Club suggests that puppies require around 18 to 20 hours of rest in a 24-hour period. But as they grow into adolescence and adulthood, they will require less sleep and owners should try to get them into a healthy sleep schedule.

Many dogs, just like Bodie, would happily sleep in late every day and surface from underneath their blankets when they're ready, but that just won't work for their owners. Having a sleep schedule can help create a routine for when they need to go outside to relieve themselves, when to do their mealtimes, and can also prevent them from causing too much trouble.

Evidently, Bodie isn't so keen on this idea and would much rather hit snooze—it's a struggle we can all recognize. Thankfully, Bahmani does have one trick up her sleeve if she needs to get the golden retriever out of bed, as she explained that if he thinks it's light outside that can mean only one thing: breakfast. Once she puts the lights on or draws the curtains, "he's ready to go" because he knows it's time to eat.

Social media users can't get enough of Bodie's relatable reaction. Since the hilarious video showing how much he "doesn't like the alarm" was posted on TikTok (@goodboybodie) on January 29, it has already been viewed more than 3.6 million times and gained over 534,000 likes.

Bahmani has been amazed by the overwhelming response to her video, as she joked that it was "funny to see a dog reacting the way you really want to react to an early wake up."

The viral video has amassed over 900 comments already, with many TikTok users lauding Bodie's completely rational response to the alarm. One comment reads: "I too react like that when my alarm goes off."

Another person replied: "He's so real for this."

While another TikTok user wrote: "Finally found my spirit animal."
