Corgi Scared Of 'Munchkin Cat' Plays Dead Until German Shepherd Helps Her

A corgi's decision to play dead until she'd roped in the help of another dog to save her from a cat has left the internet in hysterics.

The three pets appear in a newly viral social media video that captured the hilarious sequence of events.

The viral video, which has been viewed more than 691,000 times since it was first shared to TikTok on March 8, filmed the cat's leap towards the corgi, who then decided to strategically lay down and play dead until their German shepherd sibling could get involved.

Viewers watched as the tabby cat raced towards the corgi and launched its paw towards her, before the corgi rolled on its back and held still until the German shepherd could scoot over to the rescue.

"When your corgi is terrified of your munchkin cat so plays dead until your German Shepherd comes to the rescue," the pets' owner captioned the clip.

What Do The Comments Say?

Since it was shared to the social media platform by @munchkin.cat.planet.19, the TikTok post has been liked by over 65,000 users and commented on more than 80 times.

"First time I've seen a corgi afraid of anything," one user wrote.

Another user added: "Corgis are the munchkin cats of dogs".

"The kitten still harassed him, even during death," a third user shared.

How To Introduce a Cat and Dog to Each Other

The animosity between the cat and the corgi may come as little surprise to people who own both canine and feline pets.

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) acknowledged in one of its online publications that historically cats and dogs were not deemed to be the best of friends.

However, the animal welfare organization did add that the vastly different animals can become close members of a family, or at least learn how to tolerate each other, if they are introduced to each other in a sensible way.

This crucial introduction should happen at a quiet time, to provide both animals with a reassuring and peaceful environment.

"Choose a quiet time when the household is calm. Avoid festivities, parties, visiting
relatives or friends, and find time to concentrate on calm reassurance for both pets," the RSPCA wrote online.

Owners are then encouraged to reward both pets for responding well to meeting each other.

"The cat should be given a safe position in the room, and the animals should be allowed to get used to each other gradually. This will take patience. become used to each other. Again, associate the presence of the cat with reward for your dog's calm behavior," the organization added.
