Chihuahua Puppy on Long Flight Gives the 'Emotional Support We All Needed'

A heartwarming video of an 8-month-old long-haired Chihuahua named Kiwi entertaining passengers on a long-haul flight has tugged at heartstrings on the internet.

Posted on March 11 by @kiwi.the.chichi, the footage captures Kiwi peering curiously over her owner's seat as passengers disembark the plane, her tiny face a delightful surprise for those seated behind her after their long flight to Florida.

"The video was taken of our dog Kiwi, she is an 8-month-old long-haired Chihuahua, she's a little over 3lbs so she is super tiny," Kiwi's owner, who works on the digital desk at ABC News, told Newsweek.

"She is a petfluencer and with the help of us, her paw-rents, a UGC (user-generated content) creator as well!"

The family frequently travels between New York and Florida, making Kiwi a seasoned flyer at such a young age. As the plane emptied on the routine flight south, Kiwi was allowed a break from her carrier, an opportunity she used to observe the world around her.

"She loves to 'people watch' as most of us do! She calmly watched as passengers grabbed their luggage and she received smiles from strangers," her owner recounted.

Despite the hustle and bustle of travel, Kiwi remains unfazed, showing remarkable composure amid the chaos. "She travels pretty well for a puppy. There are a lot of loud noises and loads of people. Typically, we pack her favorite snacks for the plane, a cozy blanket, toys and her water bowl," her owner said.

Kiwi's adventures are well-documented by her owners who have embraced her role as a 'petfluencer.' Most of Kiwi's time is spent in New York, but she particularly enjoys the Floridian weather during her visits.

"Her favorite part about Florida has to be visiting the beach and lying in the sun, relatable!" her owner remarked.

As summer approaches, the pooch's family is excited to introduce her to more of what New York has to offer.

"This will be her first New York summer so we are excited to socialize her and show her there's more to New York than food and the cold!"

As Kiwi continues to explore new environments, her curious and loving nature is sure to gather more fans eager to see where her next adventure takes her. To date, the TikTok video has been viewed more than 17,000 times.

Kiwi's owner had captioned the post: "Me, a small doggo providing the emotional support we all needed."
