Cherysse Cleveland, Woman Who Brawled With Ravenna McDonald's Workers, Faces Charges

A woman is facing assault charges after an altercation with McDonald's staff in Ravenna, Ohio, earlier this week. Cherysse Cleveland was arrested on Monday and faces two counts of misdemeanor assault.

The case has gained widespread attention after going viral on social media. An eyewitness filmed the incident and shared the video to Facebook, where it has been viewed 2.5 million times and shared nearly 70,000 times.

Brian Allen, who witnessed the incident, began recording when the exchange between the woman and the McDonald's staff became heated. The three-minute video sees Cleveland clash with staff who try to remove her from behind the counter before a police officer arrives and arrests the woman.

The Ravenna City Police Department has now released an incident report, as reported by Fox 8. Police say officers were dispatched to McDonald's at 9.40 a.m. after reports of an assault, and they were told that a woman was "actively attacking" people at the restaurant.

Cleveland was "aggressively swinging her arms" at employees when the police arrived, so they handcuffed her and escorted her away from the restaurant.

According to Fox 8, the preliminary investigation revealed that Cleveland was at McDonald's hoping to get a slushy, but she wanted all three flavors mixed together, which the workers told her they could not do.

The report says that Cleveland told the police officers that the employees refused to make her a slushy and she got very upset. She tried to walk behind the counter to make the slushy herself but was blocked by the workers. This was when Cleveland allegedly punched one in the face.

In the video, another worker is seen intervening as a police officer shows up and places Cleveland in handcuffs.

The police officers say that two employees were hit—they suffered minor injuries and were advised to seek medical treatment. The Akron Beacon Journal reported that one employee had red marks and swelling on her face and a few cuts around her nose and eye, though both workers declined medical treatment.

Cleveland was arrested on two assault charges and was taken to the Ravenna City Police Department for booking before being transferred to the Portage County Justice Center. She pleaded not guilty at a court hearing on Tuesday and her bond was set at $1,000.

Cleveland is facing two counts of misdemeanor assault, and the judge ordered her not to return to the McDonald's location or have any contact with the alleged victims.
