Reason Why Man Has One Chair Lower Than the Other Melts Hearts—'Green Flag'

A video of a man showcasing a "cute" chair setup designed to cater to his cat has gone viral on TikTok.

The clip was posted by @melroseavenue_ and has received 8.1 million views since it was shared on January 22.

A message overlaid on the video reads: "When people ask me why one chair is higher than the others." The footage shows a man appearing perplexed while looking at the camera, with a view of two white chairs of different heights near a kitchen counter in the background.

The clip later shows a view of the chairs from the opposite side, with a cat sitting in one of them while the man is shown next to the feline.

A caption with the post reads: "Felt like i had to address this because EVERYONE was so curious haha."

The man's love for his cat is not surprising, as pet owners have shown particular concern for their animal companions since the COVID-19 pandemic.

One in three people said they got a new pet during the pandemic, according to a March 2021 survey conducted by market research firm OnePoll, in partnership with Banfield Pet Hospital in Portland, Oregon.

As COVID-19 restrictions were lifted and workers began returning to their offices, many had to leave their pets alone at home. The March 2021 survey found that 32 percent of owners said they contacted their veterinarian for advice about making the transition back to work easier on their pets.

The survey also found that around 1 in 2 people from Generation Z and 1 in 3 millennials said they would consider looking for another job if their workplace was not pet-friendly.

In a 2022 survey of U.S. pet owners conducted by the Consumer Affairs website, 50 percent of millennials said they love their pet more than their sibling. Fifty percent said the same about their mothers, and just under a third (30 percent) said the same about their partner.

'Green Flag'

TikTok users adored the cat owner in the viral post.

Lauren simply wrote: "Green flag!" and Jinxy Girl agreed, saying, "Green flags everywhere!"

Oops my bad said: "This is the sweetest thing I've ever seen," and chelseaheimbach agreed, writing: "Aww that is so sweet."

BiancaLuz212 wrote: "Oh my gosh, you're so cute," and nonyacunsern said: "That's amazing."

Newsweek has contacted the original poster for comment via TikTok and email. This video has not been independently verified.
