Cat Hilariously Warms Up Engine for Maximum Zoomie Speed

Viewers were left stunned after watching a cat's unconventional method of zoomies that had her going at the speed of light.

Lola, a 2-year-old cat, went from zero to 60 running around the house with her zoomies in full swing. A Hill's Pets article stated that cat zoomies are a burst of energy that can occur following a long snooze, their hunting instinct, or after using the litter box. But instead of just darting off full speed ahead, Lola likes to warm up her engine in a specific way.

Her method of gaining maximum speed involves putting her hind legs up on the wall and pushing off as seen in the May 2 Instagram video, which was shared to the account @josephinescats.

The caption reads: "It's important to warm up the engine to reach high speed."

Lola's owner, Josephine, told Newsweek via Instagram that she started noticing Lola pushing off the wall when she bought a specific toy for her. She would "hunt" the toy, tracking it and waiting minutes before eventually attacking it. Her slow and calculated method typically left Josephine's arms sore from moving and hiding the toy for Lola.

"To gain some speed for the attack she always did the wiggle and one day she also started putting her legs up on the wall!" Josephine said. "She does this most of the time when she gets the zoomies and also when we play with her."

Lola's hilariously adorable method for maximum zoomies has slightly rubbed off on the other cats in the house. Josephine said she caught one of the foster cats that lived there recently mimicking the push-off. However, the other cat Rosie doesn't do it. At least not yet.

Zoomies are an excellent way for owners to bond with their cats and tire them out. However, owners should monitor this in case any unusual behaviors indicate something's wrong. Signs might include weight loss, changes to litter box usage, and unusual vocalization.

Viewer Reactions

Within a week, the Instagram video reached nearly 900,000 views, over 38,000 likes, and 80 comments.

"Wow, your cat has unlocked some serious level!" said a viewer, while another commented: "Getting some good traction to go really FAST!!"

A third user added: "I can see the engine smoke."
