Border Collie Bought To Herd Chickens Runs to Dad After They Bully Him

Border collies are known for their herding instincts, but one pet collie has gone viral for being the exception to the rule.

The dog appeared in a social media video shared to her owner's TikTok account (quietbloom444) where she was seen sitting in her owner's arms after fleeing the chickens she was supposed to be herding.

"[Point of view] her job is herding chickens but she refuses to go near them because they chase and bully her," the dog's owner wrote.

What Are Border Collies Like?

The dog's behavior may come as a surprise to some breed owners who know that their energetic working dogs are as well-suited to strenuous work in open fields with farm animals as they are to playing with their families.

But each dog's personality is different, as are the experiences they may be confronted with in life. Some of these unique experiences could lead to them feeling fearful of certain animals, objects, or people.

"A remarkably bright workaholic. These energetic dogs will settle down for cuddle time when the workday is done," the American Kennel Club writes about the breed on its website.

"The intelligence, athleticism, and trainability of borders have a perfect outlet in agility training. Having a job to perform, like agility or herding or obedience work is key to border happiness. Amiable among friends, they may be reserved with strangers," the AKC states.

What Do the Comments Say?

Since it was shared on the social media platform on March 16 by Jenn (quietbloom444), the TikTok post has been liked by over 340,000 users and commented on more than 600 times.

Some TikTok users have shared their heartbreak at the dog's fear of chickens in the comments section of the post while others have offered their own experiences of their pet being "bullied" by farm animals.

"My farm dog was straight up bullied by one goose for years," one user wrote.

Another user added: "It's ok pup we all lie on our resumes sometime".

"She didn't know she would be herding dinosaurs when she applied for the job," a third user shared.

A different TikTok user wrote: "In her defense their beaks hurt".

"My cats always gangs up on my dog so my dog always hides and never comes out that she even forgets to eat," another user commented.

A sixth user shared: "Chickens can be scary I don't blame her."
