Birth Announcement Prank Leaves Internet In Hysterics: 'You Got Me'

Birth announcements tend to get most people emotional or excited, and one pregnant woman named Rebecca has proved that she's no exception. Rebecca and her sister, who goes by @jemimahartley on TikTok, had been left in hysterics after pranking her best friend Liv into believing that Rebecca had already given birth.

The woman and her sister had staged an image of a "newborn baby" and had forwarded that comical photo to a friend. The image was of the video's creator with a white knitted blanket wrapped around her face, like a newborn swaddled in a blanket.

Thousands of viewers online have laughed along with the pair, who shared the comedic video to the social media platform TikTok. "This is hilarious," one user wrote under the post while another commented, "absolutely brilliant".

A different TikToker quoted Rebecca by commenting: "You got me again".

The viral video, which has been viewed more than 2.7 million times since it was first shared to TikTok on December 6, captured the sisters sending their friend the funny image on WhatsApp.

"When you tell your bestie your baby's come, but it's [your] sis," the video's creator, Jemima Hartley, wrote under the post.

The post had been captioned: "This cracked us up too much!"

Hartley, who is based in Birmingham, England, recorded her sister's reaction to the prank which involved both of them laughing hysterically in the hospital maternity ward that they were staying in. A man sitting in the corner of the hospital room could be hear saying, "You've lost the plot".
