The Behind the Scenes of a Makeup Video 'More Girls Should See'

A beauty influencer has set the record straight on how difficult it can be for viewers to understand what a content creator really looks like beneath lighting tools and filters.

The influencer, who goes by @laviniarusanda on Instagram, shared what her "real skin" looks like beneath carefully applied makeup in a video that aims to provide comfort and clarity for her followers. The blogger began the viral clip by explaining what certain content creators do before beginning a beauty or fashion video.

"All right, my makeup is done, but now I have to get camera ready," the blogger shared in the post.

"First step, perfect lighting. Now I have to get the filter going," she added.

The blogger's skin appears smoothed out after a filter is applied, she then goes into a standard beauty tutorial introduction to mimic how some content creators appear with filters on to disguise their real skin. Afterwards, @laviniarusanda zooms the camera in on her face to highlight the details on her skin like acne scars that would typically be airbrushed out of content.

"I'm going to be showing you how I get my makeup to look like this," she said.

The post had been captioned: "POV: The influencer you compare yourself to getting ready to film. Social media is not real! Your skin is beautiful.

What Do the Comments Say?

Since it had been shared to the social media platform on January 24 by @laviniarusanda, the Instagram post has been liked by over 253,000 users and commented on more than 1,100 times.

To date, the clip has been viewed more than 6.4 million times. Plenty of Instagrammers have voiced how relatable and comforting they found the video in the post's comments section.

"Love that honesty," one user wrote.

Another user added: "You rock! You're beautiful and a girl's girls! Thank you for being real. As a mom of four teen daughters, I see what the battle for perfection does to them and it's such a false reality."

"Thank you soo much for showing us the reality. Most of the people here are clueless and easily believe whatever is shown on the media. Thank you so much for spreading awareness and being authentic. You are beautiful as you are," a third user shared.
