The 6 Questions 'Andor' Season 2 Must Answer

Andor took 'Star Wars' fans back to the beginning of Cassian Andor's (Diego Luna) journey with the rebellion against the Empire.

Set five years before the events of 2016 film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, there is still some way to go before Cassian becomes the rebel captain that fans know and love.

The Disney+ show has reached the end of its first season, and with a second season already confirmed there are many issues that the drama needs to address in its forthcoming episodes.

The 6 Questions 'Andor' Season 2 Must Answer

The Cast of Andor

Season 2 of Andor will be formatted in a slightly different way to Season 1, as it will be split into three-episode blocks, with each episode representing one year in Cassian's life until the events of Rogue One.

With that in mind, there are a lot of things that need to be addressed in Season 2 in order to fully complete Cassian's story, so let's break them down.

1. What Will Happen to Cassian?

The Andor Season 1 finale ended with Cassian sneaking onto Luthen Rael's (Stellan Skarsgård) ship, and offering him the chance to kill him as Luthen had originally planned to do.

Claiming he was not playing a game, Cassian gives Luthen an ultimatum: he can kill him or take him into custody. To this, Luthen smiles but his decision is not revealed before the credits start to roll.

Now, given there's a second season it is safe to assume that Luthen does not take Cassian up on his offer to kill him, and what is most likely to happen is that Cassian will become a part of the rebellion for real.

But how this comes to pass will certainly be an important subject for the show to tackle in Season 2.

2. How Will Mon Mothma's Plans Go?

All season long, Mon Mothma (Genevieve O'Reilly) has been trying to find a way to address her money problems. With the Empire tightening its grip on the galaxy, Mon is no longer able to secretly funnel her family fortune into the rebellion.

One way that she chooses to tackle this is by making an alliance with Davo Sculdun (Richard Dillane), an oligarch that Mon describes as a "brute" but she soon realizes may be her only way to hide her rebellious cause.

Davo suggests that they unite their houses by having her daughter marry his son, and the finale sees the two factions meet for the nuptials.

If the marriage did go ahead, one thing Season 2 will need to address is whether Mon's plans will come to fruition. As she's the leader of the rebellion in Rogue One it will be interesting to see exactly how this happens.

3. What Will Happen with Saw Gerrera and Luthen Rael?

Saw Gerrara (Forest Whittaker) is one of the main leaders of the rebellion, and he plays an important part in Rogue One as well as several other 'Star Wars' projects.

Whittaker reprised his role for a few scenes opposite Skarsgård, where it becomes clear that the cause is split into factions that are as yet unable to work together.

Luthen tells Saw of a plot from the Empire to target one of the other rebel leaders, which causes tension between the two and kickstarts Saw's paranoia against the other rebel leaders as seen in Rogue One.

It will be interesting to see how their dynamic continues and what the repercussions might be, particularly given Luthen is not in Rogue One but Saw is.

4. Will Dedra Meero and Syril Karn Team Up?

Dedra Meero (Denise Gough) and Syril Karn (Kyle Soller) are two sides of the same coin of the Empire, and both have one goal throughout Season 1: Catch Cassian Andor.

Syril wants to catch Cassian to fix his reputation, while Dedra wants to stop any hint of insurrection against the Empire. Though their goal was the same the pair were still at odds with one another in Season 1, but this seems like it might change in Season 2 given the finale.

In the last episode, the residents of Ferrix finally stand up against the Empire at Maarva's (Fiona Shaw) funeral, and during the attack Dedra gets caught in the crossfire. It is only thanks to Syril that she is able to survive the uprising and in the pair's closing moments together it seems as if they could finally see eye-to-eye.

A team up between the two members of the Empire seems like a reasonable thing to happen in Season 2, but how they do will be the question.

5. How Does Cassian Meet K-2SO?

Alan Tudyk's straight-talking yet witty robot K-2SO was one of the fan favorites of Rogue One, and in the film it is explained that Cassian reprogrammed the droid during one of his missions.

Originally, Tudyk was meant to return to the franchise in Season 1 of Andor but this changed and it was confirmed before the show premiered that the character would be back in Season 2 instead.

Andor will have to explain exactly how the two characters came to meet, and what happened to make Cassian reprogram the droid for the rebellion. But this is more than likely to be explored in the show's second season.

6. Will We See Any Other 'Rogue One' Characters?

On that note, the question remains whether the show will also mark the return of any of the other main Rogue One characters.

From the main team that made it their mission to steal the Death Star plans there was also Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones), Bodhi Rook (Riz Ahmed), Chirrut Imwe (Donnie Yen) and Baze Malbus (Jiang Wen).

Given Saw's presence in Andor there is a possibility that Jyn could make a cameo appearance, the character was with Saw until the age of 16 at which point he abandoned her and she lived a life of crime in order to survive. There are any number of ways that Jones could return as Jyn, so hopefully it'll come to pass.

Also, during this period Bodhi would be working with Jyn's father Galen Erso (Mads Mikkelsen) as an Imperial cargo pilot.

The Season 1 finale featured a post-credit scene that showed the Death Star being built, the weapon was designed by Galen so there is a chance that either him or Bodhi could make an appearance in Season 2.
