During the weeklong ceasefire, 105 civilians taken by Hamas on October 7 were released. Seventy-eight of the freed hostages were Israelis or dual-nationals as part of a Palestinian prisoner exchange. About 130 hostages—many, relatives of those freed—are still being held in Gaza.
